Dental x-rays are usually taken at your initial appointment with us, and then periodically as needed to monitor lesions or during exams to check for cavities developing at contact points of the teeth. In many cases, we are able to detect lesions well before they become visible inside of the mouth.
Digital x-rays taken in our office allow us to use significantly less radiation as compared to traditional x-rays, we are able to view the images immediately, and we are also able to manipulate and enhance radiographs, allowing us to detect cavities in areas that may have otherwise been missed.
Please inform the office if you are pregnant or think you might be pregnant. Although pregnant patients can safely have dental x-rays taken with proper precautions, we will usually choose to delay taking any x-rays until after the pregnancy.
