At Sequoia Family Dental, we encourage our patients to stay on top of their preventive care to keep their teeth in good condition for a lifetime. But the reality is that many people will still face tooth loss at some point.
Once a treatment reserved for the elderly, many people of all ages today may be wearing some form of denture. Dentures can be used to replace teeth lost by disease, injury, or congenital conditions. In some cases, a type of denture may be used to preserve the space and aesthetics while waiting for an implant.
Dentures can help to improve a patient's smile, restore their ability to chew and speak, and provide a boost to their self-confidence.
Complete Your Smile With Dentures
Unlike the dentures worn by your parents or grandparents, today’s modern dentures look more natural and feel more comfortable than ever before.
We offer two types of dentures:
Full dentures, which are also referred to as complete dentures. For those patients who are missing all of their upper or lower arch teeth—or both—full dentures are appropriate. Full dentures are completely removable for ease of cleaning. A well-fitted set of complete dentures will allow patients to chew properly and will provide support for facial bones and muscles.
Partial dentures, which we recommend for those patients who are missing a few teeth on the upper or lower jaw, or both. They are similar to full dentures in that they are removable for cleaning, but they are designed to fit around the remaining natural teeth.
Partial dentures anchor into place with clasps, so there is little worry about them moving or shifting.
Usually, multiple adjustments are needed for both types of dentures to ensure a proper fit. As time goes on, more adjustments will be needed to account for changes in the jawbone.
In many cases, implant supported dentures are possible for increased appliance stability and bone retention. With implant supported dentures, dental implants attach to the dentures, keeping them securely in place. Because the implants continue to stimulate the jawbone, the bone stays strong and healthy.
Let Us Exceed Your Expectations
Losing your teeth can take a toll on your confidence as well as your health. Today’s dentures are customized to fit comfortably and complement your appearance. With materials and techniques that have improved over the years, we can create dentures that look very much like your natural teeth.
